Anja Brettschneider Fayence Atelier
The first impression of Anja Brettschneider is as bright as her tile studio. Faience studio, to be precise. Named after the sophisticated painting technique that characterises her style and is expressed on a wide variety of tiles. But that is not the only thing that makes her craftsmanship special. The master ceramist produces her own tiles and specialises in individual one-off pieces.
I don't buy anything in, I make all the slabs myself.
"I start where others might find it too complex and time-consuming. Very special requests are exactly my cup of tea." Anyone who pores over her project-filled photo books in Ohlstadt can see this as he immerses himself in the world of her handmade wall tiles, murals and door signs, all of which tell a story. Like the house sign of a family who love Sweden and are now greeted by a detailed Büllerbü scene thanks to Anja. Or the old house in Partenkirchen, which she captured, true to the original, before it was demolished and then incorporated on the tiled stove in the new building. "Mr Rainer from Großweil works with me together on stove projects which are given a pictorial design. In this way, unique pieces are created," which Anja plans with a mental ceramics cinema and often captures a wide variety of wishes onto a small oven. Like one customer who wanted to combine old Renaissance ornaments with hunting motifs from her porcelain collection and Delft design features. Today, this stove not only radiates warmth, but also individuality. Individuality is a good keyword. Even though Anja has her own style of painting, she is open to all customer ideas and very flexible. "For example, a door sign was recently ordered for a wedding couple who both belong to the same music band. The family name had therefore to be designed in the band's font style, which was possible of course." Just like the full-size tile picture of a rooster that a man wanted for his kitchen, who had visited Italian manufacturers in vain. Until he happened to see Anja's company car and contacted her. Today, he has the rooster on the wall and his tile dream before his eyes every day. There is a lot to discover.
